After the tender grace of Love Earth and the bold bounce of I Can’t Meet You!, Michellar returns with My Alma Latina, her most heartfelt project yet. Born in San Francisco and shaped by her Spanish and Filipino roots, Michellar channels her heritage, spirituality, and artistic vision into five tracks that speak gently, but deeply.

Opening with California Fields, the EP begins on a soft note. Delicate guitar patterns and a slow tempo invite reflection. Her lyrics feel like a letter to home—“golden skies and burning trees”—both loving and grieving the California she remembers. This balance between warmth and sorrow gives the track lasting power.
Next is Ave Maria, a bold reimagining of a familiar hymn. Instead of staying in tradition, Michellar builds something new—fusing Latin rhythm with layered vocals and understated percussion. She sings, “This is for the broken, for those who pray in silence”, offering comfort across beliefs. Producer Lloyd Miller’s subtle touch shines here, keeping everything precise but never cold.
Then comes If It’s Only for One Night, a slow-burning ballad with rich harmonies and careful instrumentation. It whispers more than it shouts—drawing strength from restraint. The emotional layering here shows a maturing artist willing to take her time.

The closer, Samba with Me Tonight, lightens the mood. Its breezy pace and soft percussion bring a welcome release. The invitation to “samba through sorrow” feels sincere, never forced. It doesn’t demand a dance—it offers one.
Recorded across San Francisco, Austin, and London, My Alma Latina doesn’t just connect places; it connects emotions, cultures, and ideas. More than a debut, it’s a personal offering—one that quietly insists that prayer, music, and identity can belong to anyone willing to listen.
