Mick J. Clark returns with purpose and patience on his new album Pole Position, a ten track collection that leans into feeling, melody and lived experience. Clocking in at just over 35 minutes, the project feels intentional and unforced, like an artist who knows exactly what he wants to say and trusts the listener to come along for the ride. Clark has never been short on momentum. Mick is no stranger to the industry’s highest honors. Having earned a place in the official 64th Grammy Nominations for his album Causes, he continues to build on a legacy that includes over one million Spotify streams and significant chart placements.

Many will remember his global impact in June 2020, when his poignant anthem “We Know It Is True” reached the number two spot on the USA iTunes Top 100 Rock Songs and number three in the UK. His reach extends beyond the charts into the heart of the community, notably with his empowering song Me My Body And I, which was integrated into schools across Croydon to inspire the next generation.

Pole Position offers a balanced palette of sounds. The tracklist includes two rock anthems, a soulful R&B entry, a touch of country, and six heartfelt ballads. This variety reflects Mick’s expansive Box Set Song Catalogue of over sixty songs, showcasing his ability to pivot between genres while maintaining a cohesive ‘Easy Listening’ atmosphere. The album opens with There Is Nothing Anybody Can Do, a track released under the Sonorus Record Label that captures a sense of poignant acceptance.

As the lyrics suggest, there is a certain vulnerability in realizing some things are beyond our control, yet there is beauty in the melody that carries that realization. Clark himself calls Pole Position an easy listening album, and that feels accurate. It is calm, melodic and emotionally open. There is no rush here, just an artist sharing where he is now.
