At just 15 years old, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Edie Yvonne brings remarkable depth and energy to her debut EP, Girl Code. Produced by longtime collaborators Nicky Swedin and Cormac Liotta, this six-track collection melds indie pop-rock with heartfelt lyrics, offering a fresh and engaging glimpse into the life of a young artist on the rise.

The opening track, 15 (When I Leave), sets the tone for the EP with a catchy guitar riff. The song’s lively rhythm contrasts beautifully with Edie’s soulful vocals, creating a blend of youthful exuberance and emotional depth. The juxtaposition of upbeat instrumentation with introspective lyrics showcases Edie’s ability to balance energy and reflection—a skill that elevates the track beyond a typical pop song.

Following closely is “2U,” a standout track that bursts with vibrant guitar distortion and a dreamy vocal arrangement. The chorus, where Edie’s vocals soar, echoes influences from acts like Kero Kero Bonito. Each line encapsulates the excitement and uncertainty of teenage life, making the song both relatable and catchy.

“Delusion” and “Duh” offer a shift in tone. While Delusion builds from soft vocals to an anthemic climax, Duh embraces a mellow, laid-back vibe with hypnotic guitar tones. Both tracks highlight Edie’s versatility, with Duh particularly standing out for its seamless blend of rhythm and melody.

The EP continues to impress with Queen Bee and Girl Code, both of which radiate confidence and allure. The synth-laden glimmer of Queen Bee feels like a declaration of self-assurance, while the title track delves into the complexities of navigating social dynamics as a young woman. The lyrics, “Don’t break the code, we’ve got to hold our own,” speak directly to the themes of empowerment and solidarity.
