Veteran rock artist Gary Dranow has unveiled his EDM alter-ego Astralix with the club-ready single “Still Raining.” Released on January 18th in collaboration with producer Louie Dupont and arranger Chris Zoupa, “Still Raining” fuses pulsing dance beats with emotional lyricism.

Known for his work with blues-rock outfit The Manic Emotions, Dranow dove into the EDM realm alongside his frequent collaborator Zoupa. With Zoupa laying down propulsive synth basslines and Dupont providing hi-tech production flair, “Still Raining” quickly took shape as a festival-primed anthem.

Yet beneath the throbbing kicks and sparkling filters lies a vulnerable lyricism, with Dranow’s weather imagery providing an apt metaphor for a strained relationship. As whispered vocals implore “let me in from the rain…I need you tonight,” the track becomes a plea for reconciliation on the dancefloor. This blend of high-energy escapism and emotional nuance gives “Still Raining” rare sophistication.

Still Raining: From Rock Roots to Rave Dreams

That Astralix manages to fuse genre elements so seamlessly is a testament to the artistic vision of Dranow and the company. Drawing from the same influences that have defined projects like The Manic Emotions and Teramaze, they infuse their electronic alchemy with plenty of guitar grit and songwriting substance.

At the same time, choice sound design touches – vinyl crackles, raindrop samples, distant laughter – immerse listeners in the melancholy grandeur of the club. It’s EDM with a post-punk soul, tugging heartstrings even as synths envelop like a sensory rush. Whether it soundtracks a night of reckless reverie or provides solace after heartache, “Still Raining” pours catharsis onto the dancefloor.

With this new avenue for sonic exploration, Astralix suggests intriguing future possibilities for Dranow’s continuted evolution as an artist. If this first taste is any indication, The Rhythm May Fill Our Souls, but the emotion will linger even longer.
