RISE hails from Liverpool, England, and consists of four members: Sam Kinley (stage name stayMellow) on bass and vocals; Paul Kinley provides keyboard expertise and harmonies; Alex Mahoney keeping rhythm on the drums, while Brian Petch shreds a mean guitar. Their sound is reminiscent of 80s rock infused with synthesizer melodies that have inspired many. Their EP Memories & Possibilities released in 2024 features a collection of songs sure to whisk listeners away immersed within vibrant synth lines woven throughout each track. Take “Without You,” for instance- it showcases RISE’s signature style perfectly.

A high-energy synth accompaniment provides a driving backdrop for the powerful vocal performance and catchy hooks in this rock-pop track, crafted with UK-based soft rock sensibilities. The difficult subject matter of grieving the loss of an original band member is tackled honestly and from a place of sincere emotion throughout the song “Without You.” Despite its heavy themes, it’s able to take flight on RISE’s expertly woven sonic textures – capable of transporting rock lovers and new-to-rock listeners anywhere in their imagination.

RISE regrouped after experiencing tragedy when vocalist/bassist Sam Kinley passed suddenly prompting them to hit hiatus beforehand. When they finally re-merged, it was evident that something remarkable had come out as a result. With just one listen to their music – like Kenny Loggins’ iconic tracks paired with striking visuals – you’ll feel transported into an immersive experience.

With such impressive range already demonstrated through their music, like “For You,” “Hard to Leave You,” “See it in Your Eyes,” “China Heart” and more, it’s clear that fans should expect bold new surprises at every turn from RISE.

Knowing the lyrics and singing along gives the maximum out of this their latest release. Lines like;

I stand and stare, but you’re not there.

I hear your voice, I have no choice.

I reflect and I regret, so no

I’m not ready to let go

I’m not ready, I’m not ready

I’m not ready to let go

I’m not ready, I’m not ready

I’m not ready to let go

Are you alright that’s what they say

I tell them yes that I’m OK

I try to smile it takes a while
