FoLLow Sir-Vere viA:

With their latest single “Legion,” Scottish alt-rockers Sir-Vere deliver a high-energy call to action that rallies the masses to embrace their collective power. Set as the lead single for the upcoming reissue of the band’s acclaimed album Lovescope, “Legion” made its wide debut on January 12th, 2024 via Worldsound and Virgin Music Group.

Propelled by driving rhythms and intense vocals, the anthemic track sets the tone for the record with Sir-Vere’s signature sound—one built to move both rock and electronic dance floors.

The propulsive beat and tight, distorted guitar riff from guitarist Gary Morland kick off “Legion” with a sense of defiant momentum fitting for the march-ready anthem. Vocal duties are handled by the duo of Craig Hammond and Ian McEwan, who trade lines back and forth to keep the energy flowing. Hammond’s gruff, authoritative tones suit the rallying cries of “we are one voice” and “we are legion,” while McEwan’s smoother delivery offers reassurance on the hook-laden choruses.

Augmenting the core rock instrumentation, synth flourishes courtesy of Stevie Vega add texture and depth without overpowering the driving guitars and vocals. Subtle shifts between the verse sections and big choruses vary the dynamics while maintaining the head-nodding tempo established from the intro…

“Sir-Vere’s ‘Legion’ Remixes

In true Sir-Vere fashion, the original “Legion” comes backed with an array of remixes that offer fresh takes, from the distortion-laced rock re-imagining courtesy of OK Go’s Dan Konopka to more electronic-leaning interpretations for the dancefloor. But no matter what flavor, “Legion” retains its resonance as a bold anthem suited for the times.

Both long-term Sir-Vere fans and newcomers will find much to embrace with “Legion” and the Lovescope re-release. It shows a band still developing their sound while staying true to their musical values. The single’s underlying message of finding power through unity and understanding also translates across borders and genres – something audiences young and old can take to heart.
