Bukve’s latest single “Gonna Get It” radiates catchy optimism while thoughtfully examining our tendency to judge others hastily. As the Bergen, Norway artist sings breezily over crisp guitar and thumping drums, he acknowledges the hectic pace of modern life that affords little time for reflection.

The song explores society’s deep divides from an introspective viewpoint. It opens by depicting the breakneck pace of modern life where there is “not much room to stop and reflect.” Bukve’s smooth vocals slide over punchy drums and bass as he asks, “If you hold out your hand, I’ll try to give mine.” This signals a willingness for connection amidst the chaos. However, the next line acknowledges it is easier said than done, as “I notice this, and you notice that.”

The chorus is where the song truly ignites, bursting with an anthemic intensity. As Bukve belts out “gonna get it, gonna get it good,” one senses the simmering frustration over missed opportunities for mutual understanding. Yet the song maintains an uplifting tone, reinforced in the second verse where Bukve unrealistically wonders if “we could draw the line, this might end fine.”

While the lyrics long for reconciliation, the music is simply infectious. Breezy guitar licks skip over a propulsive drumbeat. Meanwhile, background vocals echo inlets of optimism, lending the track a communal atmosphere. One can easily imagine singing along with a crowd, swept up in the cathartic release Bukve has crafted.

As the song fades out, a lingering question remains hanging in the air – will we make the effort to truly “get it” when it comes to relating to one another? Bukve leaves the door open, suggesting there is still hope if we are willing to walk through side-by-side. For anyone seeking both buoyant melodies and thoughtful discussion starters, “Gonna Get It” delivers. This is surely only the first of many highlights destined to make Bukve’s forthcoming debut album essential listening.
