Following up on Colin Potte and the band in their interviews, Colins, the artist grew up in the North West of England, known for indie music. They now reside on Anglesey, an island with historical ties to British druids.

After years in indie bands, life circumstances shifted their focus. In 2022, job losses hit Anglesey hard. With spare time and a basic home studio, they revisited unfinished musical ideas as a solo artist. Unlike traditional bands, they embraced the role of frontman and vocalist out of necessity.

Their connection with producer Tony Denmade in Warrington fueled their creative journey. Their music is complex and interesting, and it’s getting them a lot of fans around the world. On this, their release is a cover single titled “Your Ghost.” Colin Potter and the band go on a wild music genre exploration. People all around the world love their music, which shows how talented they are. Just discovered their art we liking their music since we found them, and ‘Your Ghost’ still mesmerizes us.

The original version of “Your Ghost”, penned by Kristin Hersh for her 1994 album Hips and Makers, is an acoustic folk gem. It melds subtle guitar strums with delicate strings beneath tender vocals.

For 4 minutes 44 seconds on this cover single, they pay homage to the past while embracing a new chapter. The simplicity of acoustic-inspired instrumentation remains, but they infuse it with kaleidoscopic swirls. Chris Hall’s bold bass, Tony Denmade’s keyboards, and Colin Potter’s guitar create a sophisticated blend. The result? A twist of grunge that transforms the track into something entirely different. From the intro, the song has lines like:

I walk down this hallway, tonight its too quiet
So I path through the dark
I call you on the phone
Push your old numbers
And let your house ring
Till I awake your old ghost
Let her walk down this hallway its not that quiet
Slide down your receiver
Sprint across the wore. Follow my number, my hand
It’s the blaze across your nightgown
It’s the phone’s ring

For the remake of “Your Ghost” by Blindness & Light, it can be likened as a resurrection of the original song. Blindness & Light breathe new life into it, capturing the essence of darkness while adding their unique touch.

Colin Potter shares a few words on the inspiration behind the song.”To mark the end of the first phase of our informal collective we decided to release a cover of Kristin Hersh’s “Your Ghost”. Having just read her fantastic book “The Future Of Songwriting” it seems appropriate in the light of our split from our previous producer and our everlasting love of 4AD records. We produce ourselves now.”
